Mentoring is not for criticizing or policing people. Mentoring is to support and encourage personal responsibility in people so they gradually adopt new ideas and ways of behaving.
David: Mentoring is a support system. It’s a friendly face if you’re having a bad day or things are going not the best. That there’s a smile if there’s somebody that you can go to and say, “Hey, what’s your opinion?” or “What do you think?” or “What do you suggest?” or somebody that you can share your ideas with that is willing to listen and is appreciative of the feedback and the communication. So it’s a give and take and it’s a reward on both sides. So I hope one day to be doing that for somebody else.
