After an acquisition, RehabCare needed to refocus on defining their purpose and values and learn leadership skills to support their development.

Testimonial Transcript

ADO: My name is Ashley Todd and I am an Area Director of Operations for RehabCare in Missouri. You know I’ve always held a lot of stock in kind of the power of human interactions, and so that’s a lot of what we’ve learned in this is. How to mold your your interactions with with your peers and your direct reports to help them be successful you know, and then help your organization be successful because of that. So I would like for people to be happy at work and to want to work for RehabCare for a very long time because they feel like they have the support of the therapist they work with, their leaders, and that they have the confidence in themselves as well.

ADO 2: Hi my name is Lori Toennies. I’m an Area Director of Operations with RehabCare. I really enjoyed learning the tools and techniques that are available through LifeWork Systems. it’s really concrete things. It’s step by step what to do. It’s helpful when you find yourself in a difficult situation, to have tools to fall back on so that you don’t feel like you’re at a loss. I want my staff to understand that we have a give and take relationship between us, and that you know I’m not causing that power-over or power-under but that we have a a mutual respect for one another.

SRVP: I’m Lisa Meyer and I work for RehabCare and I’m a Regional Vice President in our Skilled Rehab Services Division and I cover the states of Missouri and Illinois. I’ve been working with Judy Ryan and LifeWork Systems for several years now. I’ve seen some huge changes already with my leadership team in their ability to interact with each other and reach out to each other when they needed assistance. Now they’re using their peers to help grow and to really develop into better managers. When we were acquired by Kindred Healthcare in 2010, we kind of lost some of our identity. We really weren’t sure what our culture was and needed to get refocused on who we were and what we we stood for with new ownership. This will be really beneficial for our employees because they sometimes feel isolated or they work in stressful environments. Giving them some tools to work through some of the issues that they might find on the workplace. They’ll also be able to use those in their home life and hopefully be a better more dedicated employee for for us and for our patients. We’ve brought this together because we want to enhance what we are doing with our patients and to be able to create a joyful, caring community for not only our staff but also for the residents and families we service.
